GREETINGS FAMILY AND FRIENDS!
Well, here's our first attempt at the blog we've been promising everyone. It will be a work in progress as I really don't have any clue what I'm doing. Bear with me!
We are sailing on our Cheoy Lee Offshore 40 built in 1968 in Hong Kong. Marc spent five years restoring her when we first bought her in 1997, and spent all of last winter and spring getting her ready for our adventure south. We rented our home in West Bath, Maine for a year (maybe longer?) and left on September 4th headed to Bahamas for the winter. After that, who knows!
We have been having a great trip so far, even with a three week delay in the Annapolis area for engine repair. (more on that later) We've had some great sails, met some wonderful people, and seen some amazing sights ranging from viewing the skyline of NYC from the bow of our boat as we sailed down the East River to gorgeous sunsets and wildlife in the pristine back creeks of North Carolina. We even had a submarine emerge 100 feet off our stern in Norfolk!
We are going to try to post more regularly now that things are up and running, and have decided to organize our photos and entries by month. So....here's September, with October to follow soon.
Looks like you are having a fabulous time! An adventure of a Lifetime! Stay well and stay the course! Keep the updates coming!!! ~~ Ethel
