We were going through the C and D Canal and saw a sister ship "Astarte" coming towards us. It was Ben Stavis and his wife who had been to our house in Maine a few summers ago! Small world!

Going under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge headed toward Annapolis

So here is where the engine decided to start acting up. We limped into Lake Ogleton just south of Annapolis, and ended up staying for three weeks to have the transmission rebuilt. Bummer. A very expensive bummer. 

The good news was that Marc's sister Marci, and my brother John both live about an hour and a half from Annapolis. So if we had to break down we certainly picked a good spot. Marci and her husband Peter came and picked us up, took us back to their house in Ashburn, Va. where they wined and dined us for the duration. We got together with John a number of times as well. The following are photos from our unintended vacation in Virginia!
